A practical overview of the standards and module updates released on 10 March 2026, including certification, auditing, WINDA records and training-delivery implications.

What is changing overall?

The central change is the integration of initial and refresher training into the same standard for the affected safety modules. Separate refresher standards will be removed after the grace period.

10 March 2026 Updated standards take effect.

Module-by-module summary

Basic Safety Training — BST V20
Initial + refresher combined Combined WAH/MH removed
  • Initial and refresher requirements now sit within one standard.
  • The combined Manual Handling and Working at Height module is discontinued.
  • Working at Height activities, including ladder-rung use and rescue exercises, are updated.
  • Sea Survival now includes walk-to-work content.
  • Refresher delivery is shorter, scenario-based and must be delivered separately from initial training.
  • A valid BST record may be refreshed by completing either initial or refresher training for that module.
Basic Technical Training — BTT V11
BTTI split Instructor competence update
  • BTT Installation is replaced by BTTI-Mechanical and BTTI-Electrical.
  • Delivery may be mechanical only, electrical only or combined.
  • Mechanical-only delivery requires BTT Mechanical and BTT Bolt Tightening prerequisites.
  • Electrical-only delivery has no prerequisites.
  • Existing BTTI instructors are automatically qualified for both new modules.
  • Existing valid BTTI records remain enduring; eligible holders receive BTTI-M and BTTI-E records automatically.
  • CoHE Basic Safety moves into BTT as Hazardous Energies Basic Safety (HEBS).
Control of Hazardous Energies — CoHE V5
Reduced to two modules BaSC refresher discontinued
  • CoHE V5 retains Electrical Safety and Pressure Fluid Safety only.
  • CoHE Basic Safety transfers to BTT V11 and is renamed BTT HEBS.
  • Existing BaSC and BaSC-R records are superseded and replaced with an enduring BTT HEBS record.
  • Refresher training is no longer required for HEBS.
  • Training providers must update lesson plans and materials by 10 September 2026.
Advanced Rescue Training — ART V6
SART integrated into ART Legacy SART now expires
  • ART V6 contains two modules: ART-H and ART-N, each covering initial and refresher training.
  • Single Rescuer content is integrated into the relevant ART modules.
  • Legacy SART records change from enduring to expiring validity.
  • SART records without a corresponding valid ART record expire on 10 September 2026.
  • Once expired, SART cannot be renewed; future competence is maintained through ART-H/HR or ART-N/NR.
  • ART-NR will no longer automatically renew BST Working at Height or Manual Handling records.
Enhanced First Aid — EFA V6
Refresher integrated
  • Initial and refresher requirements are now contained in one standard.
  • The separate Enhanced First Aid Refresher standard is discontinued after the grace period.
Instructor Qualification Training — IQT V2
Refresher removed
  • Participants are no longer required to attend IQT refresher training.
  • Instructor qualification is maintained through the competence requirements in GWO Requirements for Training V15.
Wind Limited Access — WLA V3
Working at Height alignment
  • Working at Height activities are updated to align with BST V20.
Blade Repair — BR V6
Chemical-safety alignment
  • Activities are updated to maintain alignment with current regulations and legislation on chemical use.
